It is the heart of Hope Presbyterian Church to put our faith into action by meeting the needs of the people in our community and around the world. Rather than simply telling people about the life-changing love of Jesus, we want to show them by the way we serve them. Our faith inspires our work and it’s our prayer that our work would lay the foundations to new relationships and life-changing conversations.
We partner with the following local outreach organizations so our congregation can be a part of making a difference in our community. Each of them has a line item in our monthly budget, yet we would like to serve them in other ways as well.
Because we have seen the need for nutritional support grow exponentially over the past few years, we contacted the food bank to find our which months are historically difficult to provide the food needed. As a result, our congregation holds food drives during the two most needed months. In addition, we support their annual Back To School Extravaganza by collecting backpacks to hold the much needed supplies for each child to have a successful school year.
Powerhouse Ministries is a Christian non-profit which exists to inspire and empower people to rise above their circumstances, change their lives, and impact their community. For twenty plus years, the members of our church have provided the food for the annual Powerhouse Community Thanksgiving Dinner. We purchase the food. With the help of volunteers from the community and other local churches we prepare and serve the dinner to the 300-400 people who attend.
Hart of Folsom is a non-profit community-based volunteer organization helping those experiencing homelessness in Folsom move toward self-sufficiency and greater independence. In preperation for the annual winter shelter, we collect the clothing and toiletry items requested by the planners of the shelter.
We also believe it is importanat to support ministries in other parts of the world. We support each of these ministries monthly and also offer them prayer support.
World Outreach (WO) is the mission sending agency of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. The principal goal is to glorify God by starting church-planting movements among the least-reached people groups, especially Muslims. Recently, we were blessed to host our global workers, Nathan and Kristen and their beautiful family. They presented our church with an update on their work in central Asia.
SEND is a non-denominational, multi-national evangelical mission organization with around 500 missionairies in Asia, Europe, Eurasia, and North America. Members of Hope Presbyterian Church have supported these missionaries for many years. We were pleased to host them a year ago to give us an update on their work in Russia.
CHRISTAR workers plant churches in least-reached communities where God is yet to be worshipped. In the establishment of indigeous churches, we pursue a Christ-honoring influence on the community at large. As with SEND, we have supported this mission for many years. Our missionary couple also visited us last year to report on their work with the Roma people.
